Back In November 2015, we were contacted by team at Oak Furnitureland and invited to help them to build a People Team that was more focussed on the delivery of business results. They had experienced a significant period of growth and as a result, the HR Team required some help and support in catching up.
The People Central team completed an initial piece of work with the Directors to establish the key business goals, explore their perception of the HR Team and clearly understand what their expectations were. In addition, a study of external opinions of the business as an employer was completed, the results of which provided the starting point for the action plan.
The business had ambitious sales plans that required a dynamic and proactive HR Team with a complete rethink on HR structure and strategy.
We worked closely with the Head of HR to design and deliver a People Strategy that would enable Oak Furnitureland to achieve its business plan. We then looked at ways to improve the way that the HR team operated and this led to moving them towards a more commercial approach that would add true value to the business. As well as providing consultancy support and guidance on how this could be achieved, People Central has been coaching the team on developing their interpersonal skills and improving the profile of the team.
We have provided personal coaching and project management support in the following areas: Resourcing, Reward and Recognition Frameworks, Engagement as well as sourcing candidates for the new People Team.
The People Strategy has been approved by the Board and a series of actions for the plan have subsequently been implemented! The HR Team is now established, motivated and focused on delivering the required results.
Due to the success of the working relationship to date, we have been contracted to continue to provide the personal coaching and project management support to the HR Team on an ongoing monthly basis as well as providing support to the business on the delivery of the People Strategy.
